Insect Rhythmic Union is a vibratory installation rendering perceptible the communication of insects in a wet meadow in the Swiss Alps. Grounded in biotremology, the project investigates the unique "vibroscape" of the local ecosystem.
Over several days, we recorded these hidden signals using an array of six laser Doppler vibrometers. The resulting composition was presented in a wooden hut equipped with 12 structural transducers (body shakers). This setup turned the floor and walls of the hut into a vibrating membrane, allowing visitors to feel the complexity of insect communication corporeal way, effectively simulating the experience of being inside the meadow itself.
Realized in collaboration with sound artist Ludwig Berger at the Klang Moor Schopfe Festival (Gais, Switzerland, 2023).
